Abstract
The Ovazza collection, preserved at the Engineering Library, consists of approximately 815 volumes published from the mid-nineteenth century to the early decades of the twentieth century. The texts, in Italian, French, and German, include manuals and handouts covering topics such as electricity and electrical engineering, with particular attention to force measurement instruments and electrical formula tables, as well as mechanics, machines, and hydraulics. Numerous volumes feature engravings and lithographs documenting the evolution of engineering techniques, as well as physical, mathematical, and astronomical disciplines.
Description
La raccolta include opere di carattere propedeutico al percorso universitario, contraddistinte da precisione formale e chiarezza espositiva, che guidano il lettore dalle nozioni di base a concetti più complessi, collegando teorie, sperimentazione e applicazioni pratiche. In alcuni esemplari sono presenti firme autografe riconducibili a Elia Ovazza e Mario Ovazza, esponenti di una famiglia di rilievo nel panorama accademico e culturale palermitano tra Ottocento e Novecento.
