Abstract
Enrico La Loggia was born in Cattolica Eraclea (Agrigento) on 22 February 1872 to Giuseppe La Loggia and Margherita Trolli, landowners. His father had fought with Garibaldi, and his uncle, Gaetano La Loggia—an eminent scholar of psychiatry and founder of the psychiatric hospitals of Rome and Palermo—had served as a minister alongside Garibaldi and as his lieutenant in Sicily. Enrico La Loggia graduated in Law in 1891 and embarked on a legal career. He later became editor‑in‑chief of the Palermo newspaper Il Siciliano and contributed to Il Giornale degli Economisti and to the Rivista di Politica e Scienze Sociali, directed by Napoleone Colajanni. He also served as a deputy of the Kingdom of Italy. He died in Palermo on 7 February 1960.
