Abstract
The "Biblioteca dell'Economista," one of the most ambitious publishing enterprises of the 19th century, is a collection of volumes conceived during the Risorgimento by the publishers Pomba and the Sicilian economist Francesco Ferrara with the pedagogical aim of contributing to the formation of the ruling class of the nascent unitary state. Published from 1850 until 1922, it collects the best of international economic literature translated into Italian.
