Abstract
The plates preserved in the libraries of the University of Palermo constitute a corpus of significant historical and scientific value. Produced mainly between the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, these plates—often handwritten and finely illustrated in colour—were used by professors as teaching aids during classroom lectures. Depicting anatomical structures, pathologies, and clinical procedures, they offer an important testament to the teaching methodologies of the period and serve as primary sources for the study of the history of medicine and university education.
